According to a recent United States Department of State (DOS) notification, the National Visa Center (NVC) is no longer going to collect original civil documents from immigrant visa applicants.
When do the changes take effect?
The new policy takes effect on 12 November 2014.
What should immigrant visa applicants do now?
Immigrant visa applicants whose cases are processed through the NVC will be directed to submit photocopies of civil documents to the NVC in the post. Applicants will then bring the original documents to the Embassy when they attend their immigrant visa interview.
The full memorandum outlining the NVC policy update is available here.
